The Best Western Australasia Board of Directors are:

 

Phil Hateley President / Chairman
Phil has been a member of Best Western for 30 years, 23 of these served as a Director and 17 as President/Chairman. He has over 30 years’ experience in building, renovating and running hotels, operating 13 hotels to date. He owns and operates BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel 115 Kew in Melbourne. Phil serves on the Best Western International Executive Committee and the International Brand Management Functional Team.

 

Robert Anderson: Chief Executive
Appointed to his current position in 2005, Robert was a member of Best Western for 23 years, 16 years as a Director and four years as President/Chairman. He has worked for American Express, Lintas Advertising and has a Bachelor of Business and Master of Commerce (Hons). Robert was the inaugural Best Western Global Leadership Award recipient and was awarded a HOSTPLUS ACES Award presented at the Accommodation Association of Australia Achievers’ Awards in 2012. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

 

Paul Hodda
Paul has 15 years’ experience in hotel management as an owner/operator. He currently owns BEST WESTERN Ascot Lodge Motor Inn in Goondiwindi, QLD. Paul was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2008. His hotel management experience and proactive community profile saw him previously serve on the Board of Surat Basin Regional Development Corporation as the inaugural Chairman, and he was an Executive Committee member and President of the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Paul has held various senior management positions previously in the finance sector.

 

Ian Sandilands
Ian is a current member of the Board and Audit and Risk Committee. He and his family have almost 40 years’ experience and involvement in the hotel, motel, restaurant, catering and hospitality catering industries and operate BEST WESTERN PLUS Gregory Terrace Brisbane and BEST WESTERN Henry Parkes Tenterfield. Ian has been a member for 12 years and a board member for nine years. He is a Director and a member of the policy committee on the National Board of the Accommodation Association of Australia (AAA), a member of the Hospitality Training Association of Australia (HTA), the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Principal of Sandilands Hospitality Consulting.

 

Craig Caddy
Craig has been a Best Western member since 2008 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2014. Craig currently owns and operates BEST WESTERN Aspen & Apartments in Sale, Vic. Prior to this, Craig worked for British American Tobacco in several roles, including Marketing Director, and was a member of the BAT Board of Directors for a four year period. Craig has also been a member of the Wellington Regional Tourism Board since 2010.

 

Gerald Loughran: Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee
Gerald was appointed to the Board in 2004. He has extensive experience serving as Chairman and Director of public and private companies in banking, manufacturing, agribusiness, tourism and retail. Previously, Gerald served as Chairman and Managing Director of his family-owned electrical and furnishing business. He is a past Director of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the current Chairman of the Carpet Court group of stores.

 

Col Hughes
Col is currently Chairman of the National Tourism Alliance, Chairman of the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau, group managing director of inbound travel management company ATS Pacific, part of the ASX-listed JTG Group, member of the Federal Government National Aviation Advisory Committee and a Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AMCHAM). He joined the Best Western Board in 2003. Prior to this, Col held executive management positions with Cathay Pacific Airways, Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Qantas Airways.
